Vendor Bio: Cappies Creations
Cappies Creations create unique folk art figurines
from recycled bottle caps, discarded computer parts and other recovered
materials. Cappies, as they are called, bring a wide range of sports,
cultural and lifestyle activities to life through the innovative
use of these materials. They capture form and movement in a way
that belies their humble origin and composition.
The first Cappie was created in 1992. The concept
was simple: Use materials that would normally end up in the landfill
to create something of artistic value. The result: Little wonders
of folk art that reflect the face of our society and a growing environmental
awareness.
Cappies are on average 12 inches in height and
weigh around two pounds. Each figurine uses a minimum of 54 bottle
caps that would otherwise have littered the environment. Our bottle
caps are provided mainly by restaurants and pubs.
In addition to their growing range of approximately
60 different figurines, they also do custom work and special orders.
Cappies retail for $30 - $65 CAN.
