New Vendors - Definition and Application Process:
JURY PROCEDURE:
Jury Dates To be announced
To Book a time contact: info@jamesbaymarket.com or phone (250) 381-5323.
New Vendors must have their products juried with the exception of produce vendors.
Jury is on a first come first serve basis. A $10 non-refundable fee is charged at the time of the Jury.
Products must be: HANDMADE, HOMEMADE, HOMEGROWN. Products are judged on quality, uniqueness and relevancy to our mandate. Consideration is also given to artisans living in the James Bay Community. A cross selection of three products is required for jurying or one of each item you sell if you have more then three products.
Vendors are given spots at the market pending availability and uniqueness of products. If you are accepted to the market but are not given a permanent spot you will be placed in rotation for spaces that are available on a weekly basis. You will be contacted by the Wednesday prior if there is a spot. * Please note if the market is full and you are on the waitlist those who sell items not currently represented at the market will be called first.
NEW VENDOR CREATIVE PROCESS DESCRIPTION:
Submit three clear photos of your product mounted on one 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper along with the process description on the other side of the paper. Both items should be in a clear sleeve.
The jury committee would like to learn about your process of creating your product or craft. This information will help us to determine the degree of creativity involved. One of our criteria for inclusion in the Market is the degree to which you have altered the “starting material” for your product or craft.
When writing about your own process, be detailed regarding what starting material you use, how you alter it, using what types of materials and how much time is involved for example:
I make canvas floor cloths of my own design. I start with bleached cotton canvas, which I pre-wash and cut myself. I then use a stencil of my own design, and apply commercial fabric paint. I use two coats, letting the paint dry between coats. I then heat set the paint and finish the floor cloths by stitching mitered corner hems on my sewing machine."
You may provide more details if you like. If you are submitting products for consideration in more than one category, please provide a creative process description for each product. Example: jewelry and sewing. You don't need to provide a description of how you make the different pieces of jewelry, but you would need to provide a description of your creative process for your jewelry and for your sewing.
Please bring your description with you to your appointment
